Because the nosing is made from the same flooring, there’s no change in colour or sheen at the edge of each step. The stairs read as part of the floor rather than something added on.
What is stair nosing?
The finished front edge of every step.
Stair nosing is the shaped front edge of a stair tread or landing. It protects the edge from wear, gives your foot a clear edge to find and creates a clean transition between the floor and the stairs.
Store-bought nosing rarely matches a new floor exactly. We make yours from the flooring you’re installing, so the edge looks like it was always part of the floor.

What is stair nosing?
Stair nosing is the rounded or shaped front edge of a stair tread or landing. It finishes the edge of each step, protects it from wear and creates a clean transition between your flooring and your stairs.
Can you make stair nosing for laminate or vinyl flooring?
Yes. We make nosing from hardwood, engineered wood, laminate and vinyl, so the nosing matches the colour, grain and texture of your floor instead of using a generic moulding.
Do you make nosing for curved stairs?
Yes. We make nosing for straight stairs, landings and curved or turning staircases. For curved work, send us photos and measurements so we can plan each piece.
Do I need to supply my own flooring?
Usually, yes. Using your own flooring is how we get an exact match. Send us the product name or a sample and we’ll confirm it’s suitable before we start.
What is the difference between stair nosing and stair treads?
Nosing is the finished front edge of a step; a tread is the whole horizontal surface you stand on. If you’re replacing the full step, see our custom stair treads.
Can I pick up my order?
Yes. Completed orders can be collected from our workshop at 57 Ashbridge Cir, Unit 1, Woodbridge, or we can arrange delivery to your project.
